Duncan Marwick: Coach, Advisor and Facilitator

I help you to stop performing who you should be and start being who you actually are. I have over twenty years of facilitating and coaching experience in various sectors, including: business, higher education, local government, youth coaching, inclusive employability coaching for those with disabilities and in recovery from addiction, and the creative industry.
My journey didn't start in an office or a classroom. It started on a window ledge with a sketchbook. I spent my early years observing the world before I dared to participate in it. That analytical eye eventually led me to the stage and performing. I’ve spent tens of thousands of hours mastering the mechanics of performance — not just the acting, but the bones of the theatre: direction, scenery, technical design, stage management, voice production, physical performance and stage combat. I’ve worked everywhere from the Royal Shakespeare Company to Channel 4, radio to film.
For years, I thought I was an extrovert. Then I realised the truth: I was an introvert who had become a master at masking. I learned how to perform 'adulthood' and 'confidence', while navigating a world that didn't always make sense to me. I learned that fitting in is often a technical skill. This realisation led me to the world of academia, where I spent 20 years writing degrees, lecturing in performance, and teaching others how to find their voice.
Half a century in and I’ve stopped performing for the applause and started performing for the sake of the work. I am not a 'lifestyle guru'. I’m an Indie Leadership Coach. I help leaders ditch the script. I use Applied Improv to turn anxiety into spontaneity and rigid communication into real connection.
